# STL File Viewer > A browser-based viewer for STL, OBJ, GLB, glTF, FBX and 3MF files. A model is parsed and drawn on the device that opened it; nothing is uploaded and no account exists. It reports geometry, dimensions, materials, animation clips and the references that failed to resolve, and exports a PNG of the current view. ## Key facts - Formats: STL, OBJ, GLB, glTF, FBX, 3MF. STL opens as both ASCII and binary; the variant is decided from the bytes, not the extension. - Free, no account, no sign-up, no server-side processing. Files are read through the browser file picker or a drop on the page. - File-size ceiling: 100 MB per file, 200 MB for one opening. Above that the file is refused before it is read, with the limit named in the message. - Export: PNG of the current view at 1x or 2x, on the stage colour or with a transparent background. The viewer never writes a model file back. - Requirements: JavaScript and WebGL, in a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on any operating system. - Limits: it is not a converter, a repair tool or a slicer. It does not test wall thickness, overhangs, supports or printability. - Dimensions are reported in the unit the file declares. STL declares none, so a 20-unit cube may be 20 mm or 20 inches and the viewer does not guess. - External resources: an OBJ needs its MTL and textures selected with it; a glTF needs its .bin and images. Paths are matched by four rules (exact, any folder, case-insensitive, any folder case-insensitive). References to other websites are refused, so a model opens only from files on the device. - Compression: Draco and meshopt geometry load. KTX2 textures are not supported. - FBX: binary containers from version 6400 and ASCII from 7000. Older files are refused with a version message before parsing. Animation layers and constraints are not reconstructed. - 3MF: components, colour groups and materials are read; a package that declares no unit is reported in source units. - Measurement: Cloudflare Web Analytics (cookieless) and Google Analytics 4 through Tag Manager. Neither receives a file name, a path, a model or any geometry. ## Viewers - [STL File Viewer](https://stlfileviewer.com/): Open STL, OBJ, GLB, glTF, FBX, and 3MF files online. Inspect geometry, dimensions, materials, and animations, then export a PNG. No upload or sign-up. - [OBJ Viewer](https://stlfileviewer.com/obj-viewer/): Open OBJ files with MTL materials and textures in your browser. Inspect meshes, dimensions, and missing files, then save a PNG. Free, local, and no sign-up. - [GLB Viewer](https://stlfileviewer.com/glb-viewer/): Open GLB models online. Inspect PBR materials, meshes, dimensions, and animation clips, then save a PNG. Files stay in your browser, with no account or upload. - [glTF Viewer](https://stlfileviewer.com/gltf-viewer/): Open glTF files with BIN buffers and textures in your browser. Inspect scenes, PBR materials, and animations, find missing resources, and export a PNG. - [FBX Viewer](https://stlfileviewer.com/fbx-viewer/): Open FBX models and animation clips online. Inspect geometry, materials, textures, and dimensions, then save a PNG. Files stay local, with no account or upload. - [3MF Viewer](https://stlfileviewer.com/3mf-viewer/): Open 3MF files online. Inspect components, colors, materials, meshes, and dimensions before slicing, then save a PNG. No upload, account, or installation. ## Site - [About](https://stlfileviewer.com/about/): What STL File Viewer opens, why the files never leave your device, and what the numbers in the inspection panels do and do not mean. - [Privacy](https://stlfileviewer.com/privacy/): Your 3D files stay on your device. What the viewer keeps in memory, what the network can see, and the model data that is never collected. - [Terms](https://stlfileviewer.com/terms/): The terms for using STL File Viewer, including the limits of what a browser-based look at a model can tell you before it is printed or imported. ## Optional - Contact: contact@stlfileviewer.com — corrections, and questions about the measurement described above. - [Sitemap](https://stlfileviewer.com/sitemap.xml): all nine pages, with the review date. - The site is English only.
